Hooray! On Kindle At Last

This is one of my favourite escapist reads. I can't count the number of times since receiving my first Kindle 4 years ago that I checked for Judith Michael's books in the Kindle Store. Now they're here and I'm ready to revisit this story.

A young woman is bequeathed a chain of hotels but is cheated out of that inheritance by disgruntled and disinherited family members. She goes on to make a name for herself by creating a chain of upscale hotels.

It's your basic rags-to-riches-to-rags-to-riches story with a little romance along the way. If you're looking for a hot bubble bath soak of a book, you can't go wrong with this one.

Nothing better than a long glorious read to make an evening relaxing! Just because this book is not currently on the new best selling list does not mean it should be ignored. Some of the best reads are out of the seventies and eighties. This is one of the finest.

This is a story of how such a huge loss can show you how to grow and mature and win back the things that you had lost. She gained everything back, was accepted back into the family and found her true love once more.

Laura is a very strong woman and with the help of family you can achieve anything that you want in life.

Academic and Fascinating

This rendering of the historical changes in Russia prior to the Soviet revolution is fascinating. To understand the Russian nation one must understand how it has transpired over the centuries and this excellent piece of historical writing helps to put that all into perspective. Primarily it raised questions in my mind about our own country, noting that we are in the transition from a Judeo-Christian nation to one that is secular. When that happened in Russia, it changed the ethics, the sociology, the economy and the ethnic culture of the nation. The rest is history.

Misnomer

Based on the title, I hoped to find a history of Russian Orthodoxy. Instead, the book seems obsessed only with how and when Russian leaders described Russia as distinctly the heirs of the Orthodox faith, in other words the third Christian Empire or "kingdom of God": beginning with Rome, followed by Byzantium, and finally Russia. There are certainly merits to the historical information, but the book is neither chronologically linear, nor a history of Russian faith. Instead, it is a perusal of a national idea, in apparently nonlinear form.

Since her "little world" is about animals behaving like people, it's wonderful to see how she manages to think through what this could imply, given each animal's traits - such as a shark who befriends an otter but can't invite him to come over his house because "I can't breathe under water and your parents keep trying to eat me." Most are light hearted, but she does not avoid joking about shrimps about to be eaten by huge whales, a pig apparently about to be served with salad (which he himself was eating) or suicidal lemmings. I also love how some of the friendships and relationships are inherently impossible, such as the rat who apparently is married to a snake or the above mentioned shark and otter.
And many, many are about nothing else than pure cute!
She also seem sto do some good research to include several different animals, and the way she draws them is something to be admired for itself. Her comics feature animals as diverse as fennec foxes, armadillos and anteaters, which reminds me of Noah's SHark, from the Bible's ARC about Noah and his sons.

Climo does publish many of her comics on her website, which could make buying her books somewhat unnecessary. But I really think her books are worth having, and serve as wonderful gifts - give the power of cute!

A splendiferous collection of cute and funny cartoons featuring an assortment of anthropomorphized animals in wonderfully whimsical situations.

Use this book to judge whether or not you and others around you have a sense of humor.

If your name is Sarah and you haven't bought this book yet after seeing my copy then I am taking you off my list of the most awesome people to have ever likened themselves to the noble platypus.

What fun! Gentle but at times cutting humor -- not really for children -- was having a bad day and picked this up and went all the way through it -- by the time I finished I was smiling and had even laughed out loud. I love her illustrations. So good to see the caring attitudes between "friends" -- we need so much more of this in today's world.

About the Author
Justin Yifu Lin is Professor and Honorary Dean of the National School of Development at Peking University. He was former Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of the World Bank between 2008 and 2012, and was the first economist from the developing world to hold this position. Prior to joining the Bank, Professor Lin served for 15 years as Founding Director and Professor of the China Centre for Economic Research (CCER) at Peking University. He is corresponding fellow of the British Academy, fellow of the World Academy of Sciences for the Developing World and the author of 23 books, including The Quest for Prosperity: How Developing Countries Can Take Off (2012), New Structural Economics: A Framework for Rethinking Development and Policy (2012), Benti and Changwu: Dialogues on Methodology in Economics (2011), Economic Development and Transition: Thought, Strategy, and Viability (2009) and Demystifying the Chinese Economy (Cambridge University Press, 2011).

Part Two contains initials from printed books, starting with the fifteenth century and running through the eighteenth. Here are the fanciful creations of the sixteenth-century woodcutters; initials illustrated with children, cherubs, birds, beasts, flowers, legends, and grotesque heads. The work of the later engravers, writing masters, and baroque and rococo designers follows in order. Part Three attempts to arrange the "great weedy jungle" of Victorian letters and types and concludes with twentieth-century alphabets such as the distinctive wood engraving of Edward Wadsworth. Each section has a historical introduction, and each plate has a descriptive caption.

This book provides hours of entertainment and study. Alphabets from all different eras, some of them incredibly ornamental. Every time I look at this book, I see something new to admire.

Great resource book for Calligraphers, and Penwork Doodling Artists

This book is a great resource for calligrapher, doodling artists, lettering artists that need a copyright-FREE book for inspiring their creativity.

The book shows the contour lines of the initials letters where the artist used the positive and negative shapes of the letter form to draw patterns. The book starts with the 8th century and ends in the beginning of the 20th century. This is a great resource book to add to your library if you love working in the contour of the outline of the alphabets and initials letter forms. This book works for me as a calligrapher and also as a Doodling Artist that specialize in working in the positive and negative contour lines of a letter form using geometric shapes and ink silhouette shading.

My favor plate is Plate 29 which the author describes "Letter surrounded by penwork doodling-from a 16th-century chorale, Monte Cassino.

I also use this book to challenge my art skills, for example plates 102 and plate 117 are full with penwork doodling.

I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves decorative alphabets and initials.

About the Author

Christine Warren is the bestselling author of The Others series, including Wolf at the Door, Big Bad Wolf, Born to Be Wild, Prince Charming Doesn't Live Here, and Black Magic Woman. Born and raised in coastal New England, she now lives as a transplant in the Pacific Northwest. (She completely bypassed those states in the middle due to her phobia of being landlocked.) Somewhat Disappointing

I've been a fan of Christine Warren's series of "The Others" from the beginning - but this latest novel fails to deliver... Overall the book is short with a lack of storyline. The characters are not very engaging and the intimate moments are definitely lacking (compared to other steamy scenes in her previous stories). There is absolutely no build-up of the relationship between the two main characters, which gives no anticiapation/excitement and no feeling of chemistry between the two. The main female character comes off very "bitchy" and not very likable. Also quite a few spelling errs?? which totally threw me off... I'm still hopeful that her next novel will be a triumphant come-back (ala ~ Missy & Graham in Big Bad Wolf)

If you are not what I expected, can you still be everything I need?

When your Queen gives you an assignment, regardless of your thoughts on the matter you go. For Luc Macanaw that meant crossing utilizing a portal to go from the land of the Fae to the human world and retrieve the Queen's nephew who decided to party on the other side.

Luc is a leader who always takes his assignment seriously letting nothing deter him from his objective. So meeting Corinne D'Alessandro and being thrown off his game is a shocker he never saw coming. Luc should not be attracted to Corinne for pity sake she is human. The other problem is she is chasing down the same object from a different perspective though as the reporter assigned to figure out what is going on. Corinne already knows about the non-humans on earth staying under the radar and swore to stay away from a relationship with any of them. She never expected any spark with a non-human but Luc is definitely pushing every go after him button she has with some red flags but mostly passion on all fronts. Could they have something together or is this an attraction Luc has conquered up from his bag magic?

The task is difficult for the two of them even working together as the witnesses start showing up murdered or missing. It is difficult to trace a lead under the best of circumstances but not even having a verification of the facts makes it almost impossible. The Others existence must be kept a secret so the pursuit becomes even more critical when more people start to notice the unusual activity but Luc knows Corinne has the same agenda and trust is not an issue.

This book is so much more than demons with secrets it is a romantic interlude that will enchant as well as romance you. With a well-defined and detailed storyline, this book makes for a great read, as you are able to feel the passion and the danger all at the same time.

This book came up in my Amazon recommendations list. I snatched it up because it looked good, only to read it and find that it was the best Fae book I had ever read.
Christine Warren is an amazing story teller. Her characters are witty, strong, independent, and identifiable and her story is well crafted and fluid.
I found out after starting this book that it is actually the 12th of the Others series, but I wasn't lost at all (though I did read somewhere that this was actually a rewrite of a story done with Ellora's Cave and therefore was more standalone than the other of the series).
Corinne is a reporter with multiple friends who have become involved with or married members of the supernatural community. She has basically sworn that while she loves them, she will never be one to date outside of her species.
Luc is the captain of the guard for Queen Mab of the Summer Court. He is sent to the human realm to find and bring home the queen's nephew, Seoc, before he can cause too much trouble and spill the secret of the Others.
The minute Luc sees Corinne he feels something he has never felt before, and 1 touch is all it takes for him to know that it's more than just idle attraction. Once some things are brought to light, Luc can no longer deny that Corinne is his heartmate and he knows that he'll do anything to keep her by his side.
Corinne plays coy and puts on a good poker face, but she can't deny the feelings that Luc imparts. After teaming up to find Seoc together, thus getting her story for her boss, keeping her friends safe and helping Luc with his mission, one things leads to another and she is helpless to do anything but feel.
LITERAL ADDICTION gives Not your Ordinary Faerie Tale 5 skulls and would recommend it to everyone - Paranormal Romance lovers, Urban Fantasy readers, and anyone who likes strong, witty female leads, sexy, alpha, sensitive male leads, and a story with just enough twists and turns to keep you engaged from the 1st to the last page.

This book is an outstanding overview of the life and thoughts of Karl Marx. The editor masterfully weaves together Marx's published works and private letters into a rich tapestry of history and ideas.
In addition to what you might expect to find in a collection like this (the text of The Communist Manifesto, selections from Das Kapital...), there are also tidbits from Marx's hand that help you truly understand the man and the history of his ideology, from his predictions on the fates of France and Russia, even down to his favorite color (red, of course) and his old report cards.
No serious student of economic and political philosophy should be without an understanding of Karl Marx. This book provides it like no other.

Splendid drum book-One of the best

One of the best drum books ever. I have been playing since I am five years old, pretty much seen all DVDs and books out there, and I rate this as one of the top, without a doubt. There are many people who own drum kits; there are far fewer people who are musicians who play the drums. One ideally and in my opinion wants to express oneself, not play with speed and flash and no understanding of the rudimentary nature of drums which come only from learning the rudiments deeply. I am in process of developing my own DVD drum instructional series based on the rudiments, that also incorporates other elements, to be revealed soon, however, this book has helped me move along to be able to do such, which I will use to help others now. Excellent Book

I have been working in the oil and gas industry for 20 years and conside myself quite knowledgable in project execution. This book is an excellent resource even for those that have been involved for years. The concepts are well explained with a plethora of examples and case studies. I liked the book enough that I purchased a Kindle version to carry with me. Be carefule that it is only for the Fire or Kindle app not the actual Kindle device (go figure).

This book was required for a current class I am taking. It is a good book though we are going through it out of order.
Keep in mind if this book is being partnered with the authors Sim4Projects program you will also need to buy a code for your class (mine could only be purchased at the campus book store and was $72).
