Dejan Sarka is a mentor with SolidQ and focuses on development of database and business intelligence applications. After being impressed by the 70-461 book and passing the exam with flying colours, I thought I would give this one a shot. Boy was I wrong. This book is beyond bad and you will need to allocate a few hours per chapter just to get through some of the mistakes in it:

- First of all, even if you follow the instructions in the exercises from chapter 3 and onwards step by step, the SSIS packages won't run. At first you may think you've made a mistake somewhere but even the solutions in the Solutions folder don't run because they are full of design flaws.
- The language used is extremely ambigious and can be interpreted in different ways. It's easy to get confused even if you have considerable experience with DWs and SSIS.
- Some of the instructions are simply wrong and the prerequisites are not stated. For example, the instructions on installing MDS in chapter 15 are missing several key points.

I could go on but it suffices to say that I am extremely disappointed in Microsoft's using this book as the official preparation for the 70-463 exam. It's a very sloppy job and if you have an alternative, please use another book.

Don't depend on the Exercises to be accurate

After spending an hour trying to debug why I was unable to get through a particular exercise in the book, I figured out that there were quite a few issues with the way Tables were built as per the book, and there were missing steps that I needed to guess at to get to work.

The information may be reasonably accurate, but it gets very frustrating trying to troubleshoot an issue only to realize you did everything as specified, but the steps were wrong.

Great DW Reference Book -- Poor Training Kit

The book is well organized and covers the huge topic of Data Warehousing in great detail. If you need a reference with hands-on examples of how to get things done--this book will get you up-to-speed and on track in no time. The practice exercises are well thought-out and provide invaluable guidance towards learning a broad and difficult subject. The nearly 800 pages are organized into 20 Chapters that cover each topic in detail. Each topic has 1 - 3 Lessons with an estimated completion time. I counted 56 Lessons with an estimated time of 45 hours. Add sample questions for each lesson and Case Studies for each Chapter and I suggest you plan on at least 60 hours to cover the book. The book covers SSIS in great detail including the new Deployment model which is essential. It offers only an introduction to Data Quality Services and Master Data Services but together with the exercises, that's enough to get through installation and a few examples. The book finishes with an intro to Data Mining and some nice examples of Advanced Data Quality with DQS Cleansing and Fuzzy Transforms. Get this book if you want/need to implement a Data Warehouse.

Now having said that, you will need to factor in the horrible state of the practice content. About 1/2 of the practice exercises don't work as presented. I have a good bit of experience in this field and managed to get through almost every exercise. But it was a struggle. I'd estimate that I spent at least 10 additional hours troubleshooting and cleaning up code. Much of the code is SSIS and quite a few packages (including the "Solution" packages)are blank! Some packages build on others as you progress through the lessons, so you might try jumping ahead to find some working code.

Now let's discuss the sample questions and included practice tests. I made sure that I understood every Chapter Lesson Question and all 186 Practice Test Questions thoroughly. Took the test and scored 628. Bummer. The Cert Exam is nothing like the practice material provided in the book. I went through the entire book a second time and purchased another practice exam (Thanks MS for the 2nd Shot) and passed ok.

If you are comfortable with this topic, can troubleshoot/debug code and/or want a great reference book--This does the job. I keep the pdf version handy for on-the-job reference. If you are new to this topic and/or looking to get your MCSA (this was the final exam for me) you might want to look elsewhere. I struggled with a rating. Clearly the authors put a lot into this book, but it was a disastrous training kit. Good Luck.

Excellent book! Completely changed my views about businesses & corporations.

I gave it 5 stars because of the way it was written which makes it easy for new entrepreneurs to understand and apply its principles. Now I know how risky it is to start a business as a sole proprietor or in a partnership. The author convinced me that in order to protect one's wealth, it is important to create a corporation. All in all, this book is the perfect complement to Robert Kiyosaki's book, Rich Dad Poor Dad.

Wealth of information

Garrett Sutton goes through all the reasons why doing business as a person is a bad idea. If you operate under your own name, you open yourself up to liabilities which can wipe you out financially and emotionally, often through no fault of your own (except for ignorance). You also pay much more in taxes than you should have, based on higher tax rates and less options for legitimate deductions.

He then goes on to describe the different forms of entities you can form to operate under, and clearly explains the pros and cons behind each one. Some are really no different than operating under your own name. Garrett labels these 'bad entities' and steers you clear of them. The remaining 'good entities' are explained, with many examples, so you can find one that fits your particular situation. There is no 'one size fits all', as the examples will make quite clear.

Asset protection, tax benefits, estate planning, succession planning, these are all covered in enough detail to be useful, but not so much that your eyes glaze over. This book is no replacement for an attorney's advice, or a CPA's, and Garrett is also very clear on this. It will, however, give you a leg up so when you do talk to your own advisor(s), they will not need to explain every little concept to you, and if you get billed by the hour, then this book will save you many hours.

Highly recommended, and a credit to the Rich Dad Advisor series.

About the Author

Seymour Lipschutz is on the mathematics faculty of Temple University. He formerly taught at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn and was visiting professor in the computer science department of Brooklyn College. He is the author of Schaum's Outline of Beginning Linear Algebra, Schaum's Outline of Discrete Mathematics, and Schaum's Outline of Linear Algebra.

If you are a good researcher, this is a good resource!

If you are taking an introductory Topology course, I recommend using this book. It is a little old, and some of the problems are not solved, but it will offer you an advantage when using your class text. You should use Lipschutz's book together with REA's Topology Problem Solver to give you full study advantage when taking on this most difficult subject. With some moderate study, you should do better on your assignements!

A gem among the Schaum's series; all editions are the same, however

I think the Schaum's Outline Series does a real service to students of science and mathematics, but the quality varies a bit from book to book. I find it fascinating that this one--not updated since 1965 despite a new cover and more accurate tally of the number of solved problems, and dealing with an abstract subject that would seem to have a very limited readership--is so well done. It covers most of the first half of Munkres' famous book, or nearly all of Sutherland's newer Introduction to Metric and Topological Spaces, with many more examples and solved problems than either. It is extremely user friendly, and each chapter reads well though, given the abstraction of the topic, I found it best to read each chapter two or three times before working the problems. The first three review chapters were a bit dull, but then it takes off with a nice review of real analysis in chapter 4, "Topology of the Line and Plane." I liked the Hilbert Space coverage in Chapter 8,"Metric and Normed Spaces," but wish there was a bit more on that subject.
I am using this for home study some 25 years after dropping topology in college (ironically Munkres was my advisor and teacher!) because I didn't quite yet have the mathematical maturity to take the course. Had I only discovered this book back then, and worked through Chapters 5 - 10 the summer before, I think the course would have been no problem. A great little book, and cheap.

Great resource for college-level math students...

I wish I had known about this summary when I was taking my Fundamental Concepts in Math course at the university. I would have done a lot better! I agree with the previous reviewer about adding REA's Problem Solver book for a complete set.

The topics covered include: (1) Sets and relations, (2) Functions, (3) Cardinality and Order, (4) Topology of the line and plane, (5) Topological Spaces, (6) Bases and Subbases [sic], (7) Continuity and topological equivalence, (7) Metric and normed spaces, (8)Countability, (10) Separation axioms, (11) Compactness, (12) Product spaces, (13) Connectedness, (14) Complete metric spaces, and (15) Function spaces. There is an appendix about Properties of real numbers.

This is a technical book and not for a casual reader. I believe this will be difficult for a teach-yourself-to-know reader, unless the reader has considerable math experience.

Another book that I found helpful in Fundamental Concepts (not simply Topology) was Courant et al., What is mathematics? 2nd ed.

My Fundamental Concepts professor taught the course with only lecture notes, and I was completely lost. Had I had this outline, I think I would have done better, because this Outline has a number of solved problems and exercises.

Not for the neophyte.

Hands down one of the best, if not the best occult books ever written in my humble opinion. I have a ton of occult books and none have ever had the impact on me this one did, I searched high and low and was able to find it at a decent price, the book is worth its weight in gold, on page 53 the Invocation of Tiamat will have your head feeling like its on fire and a your entire crown chakra open up wide!!! I am in awe of this magnificent book, I did change around some of the invocation to suit my needs, as I have been walking with Tiamat for years and it was her, who made sure I got a copy of this book knowing I had the keys to unlock the portals within. I would strongly urge caution when using this book, I admire the author stressing casual experimentation of the book is strongly discouraged, or you will open portals within yourself you will not be able to close. I'm going to also cosign that!! this is by far the most powerful occult book I have ever had physically make an impact upon me, just opening and reciting a Tiamat Invocation, I felt like a light switch went on behind my eyes, its like I suddenly developed night vision with red eyes, everything in my room seemed to slow down, I became aware of the blood coursing through my veins, the cells moving through my body, my ears felt like they opened up even more than the usual canine hearing I'm blessed with, I could hear a bug crawling across the carpet now this coming from a highly intuitive medium, it was like I was vibrating on another frequency, I also felt like I smoked some kush and to be clear I do not partake of the kush, so this is the power contained within this text for whoever has the keys to unlock it. I would like to thank the author Arsenath Mason for creating a book that is actually the real deal. many occult books claim to be the holy grail, this is as close to a holy grail as any human is going to get. I already feel different, as I sit here typing the fan is blowing on me and even the wind feels different, I feel like I'm in a different realm so what does that tell you?

Grimoire of Tiamat Review.

The Grimoire of Tiamat is a very thorough & researched book. It contains three parts to it, first part is of the origins & mythology of the primal dragon current, & all it's affiliated with. The second book deals with ritual practice & the nature of the entities of the Draconian race. It describes not only Tiamat, but of the natures of her consort, Kingu, & the eleven demons gods that serve Tiamat & Kingu. The third part is of appendices of various practices & application of the powers described within, from self-empowerment, spiritual awakenings, cursing & maledictions, & others as well. Overall, this book is great, the author Asenath Mason, has gone beyond the call of duty here for sure, it's the first book of her's, I've ever read, & it's great. If you're a serious occultist, &/or practitioner of the Left Hand Path, this work will amaze & fascinate you. A serious word of warning however, like the author & other occultists, such as myself, this work is NOT for all. It is very dark, very primal, & amoral, you are dealing with very, very powerful entities, that pre-exist the normal old occult practices of the middle ages, & before. Once this work is started, you CANNOT go back, the transformation you will experience, will completely change who you are as a person, & if not careful, it could be for the worse & not the better! I would absolutely recommend this opus to all who are into Mesopotamian/ Babylonian magick &/or the Simon Necronomicon, or the Sumerian creation epic known as the "Enuma Elish". A must have!!!

I really love this book!! This is a must have book for legit Left Hand Path magicians who are seeking gnosis from the Dark Gods. I really have to say that this work is not for dabblers or beginners because it can cause some serious irreversible harm to those who are not ready to free themselves from their ego or the mundane world. Those who choose to work through the book and don't substitute certain materials will not be disappointed. This book brings results because it's the real deal.
